Abstract
764,073. Liquid-blast switches. ALLISCHALMERS MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 16, 1954 [Nov. 3, 1953], No. 26897/54. Class 38(5) Each arc-interrupting unit of a liquidblast switch has a sickle shaped member 13 pivotally mounted, (at 14) between its ends, one end of the member carrying an arcing contact 10 and the other end being connected by links 29 to a push rod 26 guided for reciprocal longitudinal motion. The rod 26 is moved upwardly against the bias of a pair of springs 27 by the conducting cross bar 3 of the switch, the bar 3 carrying the second moving contact 12. The rod 26 is of insulating material and if of adequate strength is bifurcated to house the links. Alternatively the rod is provided with a bifurcated metal cap 32. As shown, the contacts 10 and 12 may co-operate with the fixed contact member 11 described in Specification 764,075 and the general arrangement of the switch is that of Specification 764,074.
