Abstract
The process of the parent Specification is modified in that instead of distilling hydrazine in the presence of one (or more) hydrocarbons boiling in the range 90-150 DEG C., one (or more) hydrocarbons boiling in the range 150-175 DEG C. is employed. In an example 500 parts of a 54.5 per cent aqueous hydrazine, 523 parts of 97 per cent sodium hydroxide and 200 parts decane (b.p. 174 DEG C.) were distilled until the temperature rose from 108 DEG C. to 110 DEG C., some decane remaining in the still throughout. 95 per cent of the original hydrazine, of 95.5 per cent concentration, was obtained in the distillate, together with decane from which it was separated by decantation. Alternatively the hydrocarbon may be introduced as vapour into the distilling apparatus.
