The counter torque of a restoring spring 3 interconnecting coaxial pins 1, 2 can be set. from outside an instrument by adjusting a rotatable shaft 6 to which is secured an arm 8, against which an arm 5 is clamped to anchor an arm 4 fixed on the pin 2, the spring 3 being secured to the arm 4. The clamp may be a spring blade 10 secured to a shaft 9 rotatably adjustable manually or electrically or alternatively it may be an arm secured to a further pin coaxial with the pin 2, also adjustable.
