Abstract
763,321. Glass-annealing leers. TRAVAUX ET METALLURGIE SOC. ANON. Nov. 11, 1954 [Nov. 14, 1953], No. 32657/54. Class 51 (2). In a counterflow tunnel-type glass annealing leer divided into a number of heating zones with fans disposed above and below the ware so that in travelling through the leer it is subjected to hot upwardly and downwardly directed currents, the leer is divided into two tunnels 3, 31 by a partition 2, and in each zone the circulating atmosphere is directed upwardly and downwardly in the respective tunnel sections by fans 8 and 9. The fans have their inlets disposed near openings in baffles 10 and 11 respectively. Heating elements 12, 13, which may be electric resistances, are disposed in the path of the circulating gases. In alternate zones, the fans are so disposed as to circulate the gases in opposite traverse directions.
