Abstract

763,233. Moulding rubber footwear soles. RO-SEARCH, Inc. Feb. 12, 1953 [Feb. 19, 1952], No. 3691/52. Class 87(2). [Also in Group VII] A sole 3, preferably of porous rubber, is moulded in situ to a shoe upper 1 mounted on a last 2 so as to form a side run 8 extending above the sole line 4 of the upper at least in places. A mix to form the sole is placed in a mould comprising a sole plate and an undivided frame 9 a lip of which seals against the upper above the line of its greatest width. The rim 8 may be replaced by a foxing strip preferably of porous rubber which is moulded and vulcanized at the same time as the sole.
