Abstract
A magnesia clinker consisting of magnesia, alumina, lime, silica, and iron oxide contains up to 4 per cent by weight of lime; silica in an amount such that the molecular ratio lime to silica is not more than 2; and a percentage weight of magnesium aluminate of 9,7 to 43,1. The clinker is prepared by mixing alumina with a slurry of magnesium hydroxide or oxide obtained from calcined magnesite followed by drying and calcining. The hydroxide slurry may be obtained from calcined dolomite, alone or with sea water, or calcined limestone and sea water.
