Abstract

A cement comprises a mixture of natural pozzolana or like silica and alumina containing material such as certain coal ashes, and granulated blast furnace slag in such a proportion that the ratio of the total weight of silica to the total weight of calcia is substantially 1. Optional additions include 1 to 3 per cent. of calcium sulphate and/or a chloride, e.g. that of barium of calcium; 5 to 10 per cent. of Portland cement together with an alkaline salt; 3 per cent. of quicklime; and 0.5 per cent. of another alkaline salt, e.g. ammonium sulphate.
