Abstract

A cement comprises a mixture by weight of at least two-thirds finely divided fly ash and/or fused ash, and one-third or less crushed clinker and/or granulated blast furnace slag. Up to 10% by weight of the clinker may have been replaced by slaked lime, and the cement may include up to 6% by weight CaSO4, e.g. as gypsum or plaster of Paris. One or more adjuvants or accelerators may be added to the mixture, such as crystallization nuclei, sodium chloride (including bay salt), calcium chloride, sodium sulphate or phosphate. The ash may be first calcined to lower carbon content.
