Abstract

762,798. Crates; carrier handle for crates. CO-OPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY, Ltd. May 11, 1955 [May 11, 1954], No. 13662/54 Classes 18 and 133. A bottle crate is divided into compartments by pairs of parallel looped wires or strips, the loops being joined at their apices by straight wires or strips running transverse to them, the lower parts of the loops engaging the bases of the bottles. In one embodiment, a wire crate has two bottle supporting inserts each comprising looped wires 26 joined to straight wires 28b and reinforced by additional wires 27, 28a. The crate has locating wires 24 engaging kinks 29 in the inserts which descend from wires 22 recessed to a crate intermediate frame 12. The inserts are carried separate from the crate by a removable handle comprising hooked scissor arms 32 biased into gripping position by a spring 36. In another embodiment, the looped wires and the straight wires at their apices are secured directly to a crate frame such as 12, the bottle supporting loop portions being reinforced by further transverse straight wires.
