A wire framed crate, the body of which may be as described in Specification 614,371 has separate means defining upper and lower portions of compartments, the upper portions being of greater cross-section than the lower. The upper portions may be defined by crossed rods 22 looped downwardly at the compartment sides and the lower by parallel rods 23 having upward loops, parts 24 of which define the lower portions. The rods 22, 23 may be joined by vertical struts.
