<PICT:0762775/III/1> A coolant for use with cutting tools comprises a liquid containing in suspension finely divided particles of carbon dioxide. The liquid may be paraffin, white oil, kerosene, glycol, water, carbon tetrachloride, methanol or a sulphorated or caster oil supplied under pressure, or gravity-fed, to a nodzle surrounded by, or surrounding, a carbon dioxide jet nozzle 1. The carbon dioxide is fed at 900 p.s.i.
