(Class. 1 (1)] Colloidal dispersion in a liquid mixture is obtained by circulating the mixture repeatedly from a reservoir d<SP>1</SP>, which may be equipped with a stirrer w, through a pump a<SP>1</SP>, homogenizing valve e, and cooler q. The process may be carried out in two stages, in the first of which a coarse mixture is obtained. A suitable homogenizing valve consists of a tapered threaded plug k (Fig. 3) adjustably screwed into a threaded body i so as to provide a passage of adjustable constant breadth along the screw thread.
