A dry shaver head has one or more cutting units mounted in a casing, each unit consisting of an outer cylindrical grid mounted for free rotation on and around a central bearer unit which forms a housing for a cutter assembly comprising a spring-urged cutter mounted on a sliding cutter carriage reciprocated parallel to the longitudinal axis of the grid by transmission members extending through a bore in a shaft at one end of the central bearer unit, the shaft and a removable end plate securing the respective ends of the cutting unit to the casing. A shown, each limb of a V-shaped member 16, at one end of the driven shaft 15, engages a slot in the driven part 4 of each cutter carriage the part 4 being slotted to receive a spring-urged upper part 7 to which a T-section cutting blade 5 is hinged by a pin 9 for co-operation with a grid 8. The fixed bored shaft 2 of the central bearer unit is received in the fixed end plate 1 and has a bearing surface for the frictionally-fitting disc 3 at one end of the grid. A fixed disc 13 at the other end of the grid bears on a thimble 11 which is secured by a spring-clip 12, bored to receive the steadying shaft of the cutter carriage unit, and turned to provide an abutment for a removable end plate 14 retained by a nut 17. The dry shaver head may be operated by an electric motor, compressed air or by clockwork.
