762,324. Shuttleless looms. TURNER & CO., Ltd., L., and EATON, J. H. July 25, 1955 [July 26, 1954], No. 21739/54. Class 142 (2). The selvedge forming mechanism for a loom, in which the weft thread 2<SP>1</SP> is drawn from a stationary weft supply and is inserted with the warp shed from one side by a reciprocating arm 8 which lays in a double pick, comprises a carrier arranged to be driven so as to move a bobbin 29 of selvedge thread bodily in one direction through a circular path about an axis transverse to the warp shed. The carrier comprises a segment 25 of such length as to be always in engagement with one of a number of pinions 18 driven in the same direction from the loom crank-shaft, the segment 25 being guided in a stationary housing 14 slotted at 23 to receive the weft inserting arm 8. Adjustable tensioning means are provided for the selvedge thread. More than one segment 25 each carrying a bobbin may be provided, and more than one bobbin may be mounted upon a segment.
