Abstract
703506. Shuttleless looms. DRAPER CORPORATION. Sept. 28, 1951 [Nov.. 28, 1950], No. 22673/51. Class 142(2) In a shuttleless loom in which the weft is inserted in the form of a loop by a carrier which draws sufficient weft from a stationary supply to extend across the width of the warp, the weft is transferred to a second carrier, inserted from the opposite side of the loom, for the completion of a pick, the inserting carrier moving slower and for a shorter distance, than the second carrier. The carriers are as described in Specification 693,550. The inserting carrier 32 is carried on one end of a tape 30, the other end of which is wound round a wheel 19 oscillated through suitable gearing by an eccentric 23 mounted on a shaft 24. The second carrier 33 is carried by a tape 31 mounted and actuated in a similar manner to tape 30, the eccentric 34, in this case giving a greater throw than eccentric 23. The driving mechanism, and the means for clamping and cutting the weft, and the method of'inserting pairs of interconnected picks, is described in Specification 693,485.
