1311864 Knitted selvedges H J TOVEY 7 Oct 1970 [7 Oct 1969] 49095/69 Heading DIE A selvedge'knitting needle 9 is reciprocated by a linkage consisting of a carrier arm 1 driven from the loom crankshaft 3 through an eccentric bearing 2 and a link 5 pivoted at one end 4 to the carrier arm 1 and at the other to the loom frame 7, such that the path of movement of the hook of the needle 9 is a tear drop shape and the needle shank 9 always remains in a plane including the fell 12. Loop of weft are inserted by a needle or rapier. The needle is supported between correspondingly grooved plates 8 and 10 on a cranked end part of the arm 1.
