Abstract

1335157 Selvedge knitting needles CROMPTON & KNOWLES CORP 20 June 1972 [21 June 1971] 28897/72 Heading D1E A selvedge knitting needle 22 is simultaneously oscillated about an axis 27 coincident with the fell and reciprocated transverse to the axis to intercept the axis. In one embodiment, Figs. 2 and 3, a holder 30 carries two needles 22 acting on adjacent edges of two fabrics on a double fabric loom, and holder 30 has a cylindrical member 32 slidable in a guide block 24 which is pivotable about an axis 27 coincident with the fell. A crank 34 reciprocates and oscillates the member 32. In alternative embodiments, a crank (50) Fig. 5 (not shown) oscillates a lever 44 pivotally attached to the end of member 32, or a lever (54) Fig. 6 (not shown) which acts on a link (58) pivoted to a needle holder (24") to reciprocate the same, while a cam (66) oscillates it about axis 27.
