Abstract

1,116,907. Shuttleless looms. M. DURAND. 22 March, 1966 [27 March, 1965; 24 April, 1965; 18 Dec., 1965], No. 12497/66. Heading DIE. In a shuttleless loom in which the weft is gripped by an inserter rod and pulled back through the shed the inserter is driven from an electromagnetically controlled servomotor. The servomotor 59 acts on an arm 56 which has a steel tape 62 surrounding it on the pulleys 60, 61 and fixed point 63 and rotation of this arm causes rotation, of the arm 54 and straight line motion of the inserter 51. The end of the inserter is provided with a gripper which is opened by a cam as it comes out of Ithe shed and is locked in this position until the selected weft is presented to it at the far side of the shed whereupon the locking mechanism is released by an electromagnet and the new weft is gripped.
