Abstract
762,069. Cable attachments. STREADER, W. J. Dec. 13, 1951 [Dec. 13, 1950], No. 30471/50. Class 109. [Also in Group XXXVI] A cable clamp comprises an outer member 1 having a forked end 5 and a shank 2 with a bore which is tapered over a part of its length at 12, and an inner member 9 with a forked end 13, a shank 10 fitting in the parallel part 11 of the bore in member 1, and a bore having a tapered part 15 and a shoulder 14. In use, the outer cable strands are cut back and the member 1 slipped on, and the member 9 is applied so that shoulder 14 abuts the strand ends 18. A tapered sleeve 16 is then forced over the bared end, a split sleeve 8 is applied to the unbared end, and member 1 forced back over the whole until bolt holes 6, 20 in the members 1, 9 align. A jumper cable coupling 23, Fig. 3, has a bolt hole 26 and a recess 28 co-operating, with freedom to swivel, with a bolt hole 21 and a raised part 22 of an integral lateral lug 7 on member 1. The Provisional. Specification describes also a form in which the core strands are clamped between an inner plug and the bore in the inner member.
