Abstract
761,911. Washing-machines. REISCH, W. May 14, 1954 [May 16, 1953; Feb. 16, 1954], No. 14260/54. Class 138 (2). A washing-machine comprises an oscillatory plate 15 actuated' by eccentric means 5 to execute a combined pulsating and rocking movement in a container 1, wherein the plate 15 is resiliently mounted and located at a relatively small distance from an inner wall, preferably the bottom of the container, and displaced to one side with respect to connecting means of the eccentric means, so that by a co-operation between the plate 15 and the inner wall of the container, there is produced a pumping action imparting to liquid in the container simultaneous pulsating and circulating movements. The eccentric 5 is mounted on the shaft 6 of an electric motor 7 and is connected by a rod 4 to the plate 15. The rod 4 is resiliently guided by two blade springs 11 fixed at one end by a clamping plate 12 and at the other end to lugs 4b on the rod 4. The rod 4 has an enlarged head 4a sealed by an elastic annular diaphragm 10 to the edge of an aperture 3 in the bottom of the tank. The plate 15 is preferably offset with respect to the longitudinal and transverse central axes of the bottom of a rectangular section tank, and may be arranged parallel or at an angle to the longitudinal central axis (Fig. 2, not shown). The tank may alternatively be oval or circular in section, and more than one plate 15 may be provided. The plate 15 has a bent-up edge 15a and at least one longitudinal groove 15c. The tank 1 is resiliently supported by means of angle irons 21 fixed to the tank and each held by two U-shaped.rubber buffers 22 clamped to the machine casing 20. In a modification (Figs. 5 to 8, not shown), the oscillatory plate is curved upwardly over approximately onethird of its length and the bottom of the tank is correspondingly curved. The side walls of the tank diverge upwardly and one wall is provided with a bulged rib to facilitate the circulation. A sheet metal guide wall overlaps one end of the oscillatory plate to guide the clothes and may also serve to cover an electric heater.
