Abstract
760,521. Load-handling machines. BAMFORD, J. C. May 3, 1955 [May 3, 1954], No. 12746/54. Class 78 (3). [Also in Group XXI] In a load-handling machine a frame 10, 11 15, is detachably mounted on a vehicle and supports for movement about a vertical axis an upright post 18 to the lower end of which is pivotally secured a main boom 26 having an upwardly projecting portion. Fluid - actuated pistoncylinder motors 29, 30 and 32, 34 are connected between the upper end of the post 18 and the outer end of the boom for raising and lowering the boom and between the end 33 of the upwardly projecting portion of the boom and the end of an arm 31 pivotally mounted between its ends at the end of the boom. A lifting fork is secured to the lower end of the arm 31. The post 18 is rotated by a rack and pinion 22, 21, the rack 22 being slidably mounted in the frame 10, 11, 15 and moved by a fluid-actuated piston-cylinder motor.
