759,782. Centrifugal spinning; thread guides. GARDELLA, A., and GARDELLA, C. Dec. 16, 1953 [Dec. 18, 1952], No. 34987/53. Class 120 (2). A centrifugal spinning-machine has a thread guide between drafting rollers and a twisting can, the guide comprising a tubular member having longitudinally spaced friction surfaces disposed in it to cause thread to take a slightly tortuous path so that loose fibres and knots may be smoothed down and thread breaks minimized. In one embodiment, Fig. 2, a tubular guide 11 has three transverse bars 12 located in different vertical planes and a rounded outlet 13. Instead of the rounded outlet, one having internally formed rings may be employed. In another embodiment having two bars 12, Fig. 6, two guide-rings 215 forming part of a cage 315 are fitted to the exterior of the lower end of the tube 11. Where moistening of the thread during twisting is required, a row of spray nozzles 18, Fig. 9, may be formed in a tube 11 and connected to a feed pipe 19. Specification 759,781 is referred to.
