Abstract
759,579. Lubricating systems. BOSCH GES., R. Sept. 1, 1954 [Sept. 5, 1953], No. 25342/54. Class 12 (3). A housing 2 connected by a pipe 1 to a main lubricant supply line and by a pipe 1<SP>1</SP> to other distributers, is formed with cylinder bores 7 accommodating pistons 8. The pistons are spring-pressed and have stop members 9 of different lengths so that the strokes of the pistons vary accordingly. The cylinder bores communicate with a bore 6 containing a slide valve 17 which is formed on the outside with channels 20 and also has an axial bore 18 with transverse bores 19. The valve is pressed against a stop member 29 by a spring 22 fitted in a hole 21, which communicates by an opening 26 with a channel 20. The cylinder bores 7 at their outer ends lead to storage chambers 14 which are fitted with nipples 12 communicating with lubricating points. The storage chambers communicate with inclined bores 15 leading to the bore 6 of the slide valve 17. Lubricant intermittently fed, for example, by a piston pump, is forced through pipe 1 and moves the slide valve 17 to the left. Lubricant also enters the axial bore 18 and transverse bores 19 and eventually the pistons 8 are moved outwardly causing lubricant to be forced out of the storage chambers 14 to the points to be lubricated. When the piston pump ceases its stroke, the slide valve is pressed back to normal position by the spring 22 and lubricant is forced by the return action of the pistons 8 through the channels 20 and inclined bores 15 to the storage chambers 14. In a modification the bores 5, 51 are closed, the screw 28 is removed and connection is made to a hand operated or mechanically operated piston pump withdrawing lubricant from a reservoir.
