759,504. Screw and nut mechanism. PHILLIPS, T. L. Aug. 24, 1954 [Sept. 12, 1953], No. 25245/53. Class 80(3) A screw and nut mechanism has balls or rollers 18 in helical passageways on either side of helical thread ribs 12, 13 of the screw 10 and nut 11 respectively. The two passageways in the nut are interconnected at their ends by ducts 20 formed by the end 22 of the rib 13 and the surface 21 of an enlargement 19 to allow the circulation of the balls. The interconnecting duct is provided in the screw member in the case where the nut is of greater axial length than the screw. The nut or screw may be split longitudinally to allow the assembly of the balls or rollers in the passageways and the two parts secured together.
