794,273. Nuts. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Sept. 10, 1956 [Sept. 10, 1955], No. 25949/55. Class 89(1) A nut 1 has its threads longitudinally grooved to improve fatigue-resistance in nut-and-bolt connections. Several equallyspaced grooves 1a are provided, tapered in depth from approximately the full depth of the thread at the bearing-face end 1b of the nut to a relatively slight depth at the other end 1c. The grooves may be packed with lubricant, e.g. graphite or molybdenum-disulphide. The top-thread at end 1c is lipped over to prevent the nut being used with end 1c as the bearing-face.
