Abstract
The invention comprises benzyl-thio-pyrimidines in which the phenyl radical may contain halogen substituents, and a process for making them by the action of a pyrimidine thiol optionally containing alkyl groups at positions 4, 5 or 6, with a benzyl halide which may contain one or more halogen substituents. Examples describe the preparation by this method of 2:41 - chlorobenzylthio - 4:6-dimethylpyrimidine, 2 - benzylthio - 4:6-dimethylpyrimidine, and compositions of both with Insem 108 (a non-ionic emulsifying agent) and benzene, to give stable emulsions for acaricidal use.ALSO:Acaricidal compositions comprise pyrimidine compounds of the formula: <FORM:0758827/VI/1> in which the pyrimidine radical X may carry alkyl groups at any of positions 4, 5 and 6, and the phenyl radical Y may have one or more halogen atoms, (see Group IV(b)) with dispersing or suspending agents emulsifying agents or solvents, to form dusts, dispersions &c. for horticultural purposes. A composition of 2 : 41-chloro-benzylthio-4 : 6-dimethyl-pyrimidine with Insem 108 and benzene gives an emulsion for diluting. Another similar composition is described and paraffin oil xylene and other p aromatic solvents and powders are referred to as additives.
