Abstract

A pesticidal composition comprising a hydrazidine derivative of the general formula RC(=N.NX1X2)NH2, wherein X1, X2 and R each represent a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon radical or a substituted hydrocarbon radical, and a finely-powdered solid carrier, or a liquid or a finely-powdered solid carrier and a wetting agent. Where X1 represents hydrogen, X2 represents an arylyl or aralkyl, preferably phenyl, group and R represents a carbamyl or a cyano group linked to the remainder of the molecule through its carbon atom. The liquid carrier may be an organic solvent, e.g. a hydrocarbon oil or an aqueous medium. The finely-powdered diluent may be used in the form of dust or, mixed with a wetting agent, as a water dispersible powder and where aqueous emulsions or suspensions are used, solvents, emulsifiers and emulsion stabilizers may be added. The composition may contain other fungicidal, antiviric, insecticidal or acaricidal substances, plant nutrients, plant hormones, wetting agents and stickers and substances such as glucose which render possible the application of high concentrations without the occurrence of phytotoxic symptoms. One or more hydrazidine derivatives may be included and examples of the derivatives are acetylamidrazone, cyanamidrazone and formamidrazone. Specification 726,684 is referred to.
