[Also in Group XXX] A supporting structure for wheels of " monorail " vehicles comprises a supporting structure formed wholly or mainly of concrete 6 carried on spaced pylons, and has strips 8 of hard stone or concrete, or a wearing surface of e.g. stone chippings bonded by cement, on which the vehicle wheels run. If desired steel rails can be set in grooves in the top surface of the beam. The strips may be set in trapezoidal recesses and the hard layers may be bonded to the underlying concrete as the latter is cast.
