Abstract

758,290. Typewriters. SIEMAG FEINMEUHANISCHE WERKE GES. June 30, 1954 [July 4, 1953; March 5, 1954], No 19179/54. Class 100 (4). An ink-ribbon mechanism for a typewriter is so constructed that in addition to handling an ordinary ink-ribbon it can advance a narrow paper ink-ribbon which is discarded after one use. The existing spool mounting 18 on the typewriter is fitted with a ribbon spool 1 which has therein a friction roller 3 of diameter slightly less than that of the flanges of the spool and a spring urged brake lever 8 presses the paper ink-ribbon 4 into contact with this roller. The brake lever 8 has an aperture 9 through which the ribbon is fed to the roller 3 and has a U-shaped guiding channel 23 which leads the ribbon away to waste. The ribbon is drawn through a ribbon fork 17 which has two pairs of slots 24 and 25 which guides either the narrow paper ink-ribbon or the ordinary ink-ribbon respectively, the paper ink-ribbon being guided through guiding slot 16 in an upwardly extending flange 15 from a supply spool 10 attached to the side of the typewriter.
