Abstract
An alloy which is resistant to oxides present in combustion residues of unrefined liquid fuels consists of: .C.0 - 1.per cent .Cr.10 - 45.per cent .Si.4 - 11.per cent .Ni.0 - 30.per cent .Fe and impurities, the remainder... Up to one half the Cr content may be replaced by an equal proportion of Al and the Si may be wholly or partly replaced by an equal proportion of Al. One or more of the following, up to a total of 20 per cent, may also be present in the alloy: up to 5 per cent W; up to 5 per cent Mo; up to 2 per cent V; up to 2 per cent Ti; up to 5 per cent Ta; up to 5 per cent Nb; up to 0,5 per cent B; up to 20 per cent Co. The alloy stated to be particularly suitable for valves, nozzles, combustion chambers, regenerators and turbine blades of gas turbines. Articles made of Fe, Ni, Cr, Co, W, Mo or their alloys or of ceramic or carbon may be coated with the alloy by spraying, hot dipping or sintering (see Group XXII) or, in the case of articles made of austenitic or ferritic steel, by heating the article embedded in an alloy powder containing 25 to 60 per cent Cr and 4 to 25 per cent Ni.
