Abstract

757,259. Bearing bushes. THOMSON, J. B. May 26, 1954 [June 30, 1953], No. 15621/54. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group V] A bearing liner comprises a substantially cylindrical member 14 provided with an axiallyextending slit 16 and formed of a resilient plastic composition such as nylon, polyethylene or tetrafluoroethane polymer. The end portions of the slit are axial and are connected at 20 to a central helical portion 22. Circumferentially extending lubricant slots 24 are provided and are connected by shallow grooves formed on the inside or outside of the liner 14. An outer supporting metal sleeve 10 has flanged ends 12 and an aperture 26 through which lubricant is supplied. In a modification the liner is slotted, alternate slots extending from opposite ends and over-lapping each other.
