757,094. Valves. PETROCARBON, Ltd. Aug. 10, 1953, No. 22063/53. Class 135. In a screw-actuated stop-valve comprising a plug 3, Fig. 1, coacting with a removable seating member 9, the plug is maintained coaxial with the seat aperture by split-rings 14, 17, integral with the member 9 and the plug respectively. The inner surface of the ring 14 and the outer surface of the ring 17 are rounded to provide line contacts between the seating member and the plug. The internal diameter of the ring 14, prior to the insertion of the plug, is slightly less than the diameter of the part 4 of the plug, while the outside diameter of the ring 17 is slightly greater than that of the bores of the member 9. The lengths of the bore and the part 4 of the plug are greater than the permitted movement of the plug. In the case of small valves, the ring 17 may be dispensed with.
