Abstract
756,616. Conductors. TELEGRAPH CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE CO., Ltd. June 6, 1955 [June 11, 1954], No. 17255/54. Class 36. [Also in Group XXII] A stranded conductor is made by winding additional wires or strands of a filling metal on to the central strand prior to the application of the outer strands, the filling metal being sufficiently ductile so that when the outer strands are drawn down on to the central strand the intermediate strands will flow and fill the interstices within the conductor. With a copper conductor the filling strands may be then copper or aluminium wires, or may be of a lead alloy which has a melting-point sufficiently high to withstand any heat treatment to which the conductor may be subsequently subjected. Specification 709,394 is referred to.
