756,550. Moulding-processes; moulding machines. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Feb. 24, 1954 [Dec. 1, 1952; Dec. 5, 1952; Dec. 5, 1952], Nos. 30347/52, 30885/52 and 30886/52. Class 83(1). In shell-moulding, a pattern is fixedly mounted upon a stationary table and an investment material is fed upon and covers the pattern, electrically-generated heat is transmitted to the investment material to produce a shell upon the pattein, surplus investment material is then removed and curing is effected by continuation of the heating. A pattern 1 incorporating an electric heating element 7 is supported by a table 2 and investment material falls thereon from a hopper 3. Surplus investment material is removed by suction through a hood 9, air withdrawn therefrom being returned, after screening, via a pipe 14 to create turbulence in the hood and assist evacuation. The suction-device and a spray for applying a parting medium are movable into and out of operative position. The heating can be effected by high frequency or induction, an inductance coil being hingedly mounted in proximity to the pattern or by arranging the pattern in an electric circuit, or on a heated table, or adjacent a heating element.
