Abstract
The invention comprises salts of amines R-CO-NR1-A-NR112 with acids RCOOH, where RCO is the residue of a fatty acid (C10-C20) or a rosin acid, A is C2-C6 alkylene, R1 is H or C1-C4 alkyl and R11 is C1-C4 alkyl. These are made by heating dialkylamino-alkylamines with acids RCOOH to give the amides and heating the latter simultaneously or successively with a further mol. of the same or different RCOOH to form the salts. Examples show the reaction of (1) b -diethylamino-ethylamine and oleic acid; (2) g -dimethylamino-propylamine and tall oil, giving the rosin acids salts of N-dimethylaminopropyl-oleamide,-linoleamide and -linolenamide; (3) g -di-isopropyl-amino-propylamine and coconut oil, the glycerides being hydrolysed and the amides subsequently neutralised with more fatty acid; (4) b -dimethylamino-ethylamine and oleic acid. Other specified products are the rosin acids salts of N-dimethylaminoethyl-oleamide, the lauric acid salt of N-methyl-N-(methyl-isopropyl-amino-ethyl)-linoleamide and the oleic acid salts of N-di-isopropylaminopropyl-lauramide and N-butyl-N-(dibutylaminobutyl)-oleamide. The acid groups may be provided by palmitic, stearic, and abietic acid or by the triglycerides of vegetable and fish oils and animal fats. Specification 618,767 is referred to.ALSO:Bituminous compositions contain salts of amines R-CO-NR1-A-NR112 with acids RCOOH where RCO is the residue of a fatty acid (C10-C20) or a rosin acid, A is C2-C6 alkylene, R1 is H or C1-C4 alkyl and R11 is C1-C4 alkyl; the symbols R may be the same or different. Preferred compounds are the oleates of oleic acid b -diethylamino-ethylamide and b -dimethylamino-ethylamide, the rosin acid salts of oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid g -dimethylamino-propylamides and the coconut oil acid salt of coconut acid g -di-isopropylamino-propylamide.
