Abstract

755,839. Endless belt conveyers. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. May 20, 1953 [March 18, 1953], No. 14231/53. Class 78 (1). An endless conveyer belt comprises a plurality of wires extending diagonally across the width of the belt from one side to the other, said wires being arranged in a diamond weave with each wire passing alternately above and below the wires arranged transversely thereto, the wires being located by crimps in the wires at each intersection. Fig. 1 shows the application to a conveyer belt 2 which passes round centring rollers 8 described in Specification 735,561. The belt consists of wires 26 extending the length of the belt in zig-zag fashion, each wire passing alternately above and below the wires arranged transversely thereto. The ends of the wires which abut when the ends of the belt are brought together are preferably interwoven and welded together. In an alternative construction each wire extends only the width of the belt. Specification 717,671 also is referred to.
