Class 110(3) A pulse jet unit having a forwardly facing air intake of the type through which combustion gas escapes in a forward direction at each explosion of the unit, is provided with a device for deflecting the forwardly flowing leak gas, comprising a generally tubular member 3 extending forwardly of the unit outside the air intake, said' member, having an open end 4 adjacent to and spaced from the intake, and a closed end remote therefrom, and flow guiding means 2 extending laterally of the intake for furthering and stabilizing the deflection produced by member 3. As described, the member 3 is coaxial with the intake, and may have a forward end shaped as a cone or pointed arch. The guiding means 2 is an extension of the intake curving rearwardly and outwardly. A resonance is said to be set up which assists in the deflection.
