Abstract
753,545. Jet propulsion plant. SAUNDERS-ROE, Ltd. Jan. 5, 1955 [Jan. 21, 1954], No. 1839/54. Class 110(3) [Also in Group XXXIII] The casing 12 of a pulse or ram jet engine fitted to the tip of a helicopter rotor blade is surrounded by three straps, the central strap 14 being shown, each strap being formed with legs 16 attached to a chordwise extending channel member 17. The leading 'strap is secured to the casing 12, the other two permitting axial movement to allow for relative expansion. A tubular casing 18, fitted to the outboard end of the spar of the blade 10, receives a sleeve 26 rotatable in needle bearings 27, and supports the member 27 by one end of a flange 25. A torsion bar 28 comprises a number of segmental strips 31 enlarged and threaded at their ends 32, 33, to engage the end 29 of sleeve 26, and the inboard end 30 of casing 18. Specification 753,544 [Group XXXIII] is referred to.
