Abstract

Sealing compositions for inner tubes and tubeless pneumatic tyres include a mixture of from 60-20 per cent of a copolymer of a major proportion of an iso-olefin, e.g. isobutylene, and a minor proportion of a multiolefin, e.g. butadiene and isoprene, and from 40-80 per cent of natural rubber and/or a rubber-like copolymer of butadiene and styrene. The usual compounding agents, e.g. plasticizers, antioxidants, fillers, and curing agents may be present.ALSO:Sealing compositions for inner tubes and tubeless pneumatic tyres include a mixture of from 40-80 per cent of natural rubber and/or a rubber-like copolymer of butadiene and styrene and from 60-20 per cent of a butyl rubber. In an example the sealing composition comprises equal parts of natural rubber and butyl rubber containing as compounding agents, iron oxide, whiting, active carbon, plasticizer, peptizer, stearic acid, zinc oxide, sulphur and mercaptobenzothiazole.
