Abstract

N-Isopropyl- and N-tert.-butyl-(bis-2-benzothiazolesulphenamides) are used to accelerate the vulcanization of synthetic rubbers derived from polybutadiene, polyisoprene, copolymers of isobutylene and a diolefin, and copolymers of 1:3-butadiene with styrene or acrylonitrile. Specified compounding ingredients are superabrasion furnace black, zinc oxide, zinc salts of coconut oil acids, pine tar, antioxidant and sulphur.ALSO:The invention comprises N-isopropyl- and N - tert. - butyl - (bis - 2 - benzothiazolesulphen - amides) and the preparation thereof, which comprises reacting 2 moles. of 2-benzothiazolesulphenyl chloride with one mole. of isopropylamine, or tert.-butylamine, in the presence of 2 moles. of a tertiary aliphatic amine such as triethylamine.ALSO:N-Isopropyl- and N-tert-butyl-(bis-2-benzothiazolesulphenamides) are used to accelerate the vulcanization of a formulation comprising smoked rubber sheet, super abrasion furnace black, zinc oxide, zinc salts of coconut oil acids, pine tar, antioxidant and sulphur.
