A machine for applying finely-divided powders to crops comprises a closed hopper H for the powder, from which the powder is caused to flow into a flow chamber C bounded at its upper and lower ends by rotatable reticulated discs 31 and 35, the upper disc supporting the powder in the hopper and the powder being maintained against rotation by stationary metal plates 28. Discs 31 and 35 are mounted on a vertical spindle 10 and the space between them contains a constant head of powder when the machine is in motion, the powder being delivered from thence into a fan inlet duct B via an enclosed duct D, the rate of output being regulated by means of adjustable baffle-plates 42.
