753,284. Internal shoe drum brakes. BERNARDON, M. June 18, 1954 [June 19, 1953; Sept. 24, 1953; March 16, 1954], No. 18028/54. Class 103 (1). In an internal shoe-drum brake of the kind in which the anchor plate 1 is provided with an elongated arcuate opening 8 for slidingly carry-. ing the shoe shifting cam 6, an elongated support member 16 has one end pivotally carried by the anchor plate in substantial register with the pivotal connection 31 between the anchor-plate and brake shoes, extends in substantially diametrical relationship with reference to and over the anchor plate, and carries the cam 6 at its other end to follow its floating movement inside the arcuate opening. The support member 16 has an annular opening 16<SP>1</SP> at its central part so as to allow it to move without contacting the hub member. In an embodiment the lower ends of the shoes are pivoted adjacent to, but not coaxially with, the pivot of the support member.
