Abstract

Class 110(2) A rotary exhauster or the like of the radially outwardly sliding vane type hav- ,ing spring loaded sealing end plates 8 draws lubricant to the rotor shaft bearings 28 through passages in the end plates 11 and casing 1 from a lubricant supply connection 25 by placing the space between each end plate 11 and its corresponding sealing plate 8 in communication with the vacuum side of the exhauster cylinder by means of a small aperture 29 in each sealing plate the diameter of the aperture being about 2 millimetres. A relief valve 21 communicating with the inlet port 14 and the atmosphere is arranged to maintain a predetermined vacuum.
