Abstract
751,716. Injection-moulding machines ASMIDAR PLASTIC MOULDING MACHINES, Ltd. Dec. 17, 1954, No. 36655/54. Class 87(2) The mould parts 28, 29, Fig. 2, are clamped between a fixed jaw 13 and a movable jaw 26 by a cam 25 having a hand lever 24. The cam is pivoted on a bolt 19 that is adjustably fixed on an extension 15 of jaw 13, the adjustment being afforded by a sleeve 21 that surrounds the bolt and is serrated on its underside. The serrations on the sleeve mesh with serrations 16 on extension 15. By loosening a nut 23 on the bolt the latter may be slid right or left, Fig. 2, (the bolt shank sliding in a groove 17 in extension 15) to accommodate different thicknesses of mould. The nut 23 clamps on the upper end of a reduceddiameter part 21a on sleeve 21, the cam being of less height than part 21a so that it is freely pivotable about the bolt. The jaw 13 has a portion 14 which is a sliding fit in a channel 10 formed in a plate 9 adjustably fixed on a base plate 5 carried by a column 7. The injecting apparatus is carried by a hollow casting 31 adjustably clamped on column 7. The upper end of the casting supports a rack-and-pinion mechanism 40, 43, the rack 40 being the injection plunger. The pinion is rocked by a hand lever 47 the effective length of which can be varied by unscrewing a locking bolt 51 and sliding the lever one way or the other. The lower end of the casting supports a sleeve 61 in which is slidably disposed the injection cylinder 62, the cylinder being normally held in the raised position shown by a spring 69 and being depressed against the spring when injection takes place. A cover plate 81 fits around the cylinder. The cylinder has a flared mouth 63 into which moulding material is fed from a hopper 66 by way of a perforated feeder 80 that is hand-pushed to the feeding position by a knob and returned by a spring. The cylinder is heated by an electric jacket 70 fed through a rheostat 35. A thermometer 76 is provided.
