Abstract

877,300. Injection moulding. HEHL, A., HEHL, K., and HEHL, E., [trading as ARBURG FEINGERATEFABRIK O.H.G. HEHL & SOHNE]. Aug. 5, 1958, No. 25126/58. Class 87(2). An injection moulding machine comprises a mould 49 secured to a base plate 1 by a clamping device 50, a supporting column 2 whose height is adjustable by means of a nut 4, a supporting arm 5 for a pressing device including a ram 7 which is reciprocable by a hand lever 10, a piston 28 controllable by the ram for feeding the raw material, and a heated injection cylinder 16. The piston 28 is movable and adjustable in a feed duet 27 leading from a hopper 26 to a feed shoot 29. The lever 10 operates the ram 7 through a rack 8 and pinion 11. Downward movement of ram 7 brings a conical portion 13 into engagement with a U-shaped member 39 which is connected through an arm 38, shaft 37 and lever 35 with the piston 28. The extent of the ram movement thus controls the amount of material fed by the piston 28 and also the descent of two slide members 44, 45 in the shoot 29. The members 44, 45 are rigidly connected by a rod 43 and movable upwardly against spring bias by a lug 46 engaging the conical member 13. An electric heater 22 is clamped to the injection cylinder 16 which has a filling funnel 15. A screen 23 has an aperture 24 for a thermometer. Cooling water flows through passages 21. During injection the cylinder 16 moves towards the mould 49 against the bias of a spring 19. A transparent removable screen 48 is provided. The injection nozzle 55, Fig. 5, is normally closed by a valve 61 which opens against the pressure of a spring 58 under injection pressure. The valve 61 is carried by a piston 59 sliding in a cavity 57 in a torpedo member 56.
