751,699. Dental mirrors. CLAESSENS, C. P. D. Sept. 15, 1954 [Sept. 21, 1953], No. 26731/54. Class 81(2). A dental mirror is mounted on a hollow handle through which a cooling fluid is passed and a lateral opening at the end of the handle directs a jet of fluid in front of the mirror, to cool a tooth being treated. The actual mirror 13 is mounted at the end of the hollow stem 3 at approximately 45 degrees thereto, and fluid, which may be liquid or gas, is received through a supply pipe connected to a union 14, after which it flows past a control valve 4 to a nozzle, set adjacent to the mirror and so mounted as to direct a stream perpendicular to the handle into the space immediately in front of the mirror. The valve 4 is preferably in the form of a plunger bearing against a length of flexible tube and, if desired, electrical heating means may be incorporated in the lower part of the handle.
