Abstract
751,200. Electrode boilers. STEEN, C. A. Sept. 15, 1954, No. 26794/54. Class 39(3). An electric cooking boiler comprises a steam generating chamber 4 connected, to a steam space between container members 1, 2, and electrodes 5 are suspended by carrier means 6, 7, 10 from one end of a lever 14 pivoted in a support 15. The other end of the lever 14 passes into a pipe elbow 17 which has bellows 18 connected to it, a closure member 19 of the bellows having a rod 20 secured thereto and the upper end of the rod. being pivoted to the lever 14. An arm 22 carrying a sliding weight 24 is mounted in a support 23 and is pivoted to the lower end of the rod 20. Upon generation of excess steam pressure within the chamber 4 the closure member 19 is urged downwardly and the electrodes 5 are drawn upwardly and partially clear of the water or other electrolyte thus reducing the rate of steam generation. The loading of the member 19 can be adjusted by the weight 24 and the level of the electrolyte is maintained by known means. Parallelogram linkage means may be used in place of a sleeve 11 for guiding the rod 10.
