Abstract

751,125. Extruding. BURKON GES. March 2, 1954 [March 2, 1953], No. 6160/54. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). Making electric condenser cases.-A metal case closed at one end, particularly for an electric condenser, is made by backwardly impact extruding a composite billet, comprising a soft annealed base-plate 1, Fig. 5, preferably of aluminium, with a layer 2 of solderable metal such as copper, whereby the solderable metal forms a lining for the case. The layer 2 may be plated, pressed, or rolled on to the base or it may be separate therefrom. The billet is lubricated during extrusion. The punch 9 has a sharp edge 11 and is provided with a stripper plate 12. The billets, which may be of circular or rectangular cross-section for making corresponding shapes of case, are independent or slit in the middle at 6, Fig. 3, so that the copper is partly or completely cut through. This tends to equalize the flow of the two metals during the extrusion. A rectangular extruded case 13 with lining 2 has indentations 15 for supporting an internal cover 14 which is subsequently soldered at 16, Fig. 8 (not shown), to the case.
