Abstract
Crude citrazinic acid is purified by contacting with sulphuric acid having a concentration of 65-90 per cent by weight at an elevated temperature, filtering the crystalline solid that forms upon cooling the treatment mixture and contacting said crystalline solid with water to form purified citrazinic acid. The process is preferably conducted with sulphuric acid having a concentration of 70 per cent by weight, and at a temperature of 105-110 DEG C.
