Abstract

In a process for the electrical purification of gases derived from roasting processes, the gases are passed through an electrical precipitator where they are freed from dust, then cooled indirectly to a temperature below 100 DEG C. and without washing, moistened by spraying in water. The sulphuric acid fog is then separated as relatively strong acid, together with other impurities, by passing the gases through a second electrical precipitation plant. The water is preferably sprayed in immediately after the gases leave the cooling apparatus.
